This website is about an establishment that I consider to be unethical and immoral that goes by the name of the Amelia Belle Casino in Amelia, LA. I was an employee at the Amelia Belle Casino until I quit in September of 2009. During my employment at the casino I was in an on-the-job accident. The cause of the accident was an intoxicated customer that lost their balance while attempting to get on the escalators. The customer fell on me causing us to roll down the escalators. The customer was so intoxicated because the Amelia Belle Casino violated LA R.S. 26:90(2). I suffered physical injuries as a result of the accident.

Even though the Workman’s Comp insurance company, GAB Robins of North America, has paid most of the medical costs (insurance has yet to pay for the damaged to my glasses) the casino has denied to the LA Workman’s Compensation Court that I was ever injured. This is in spite of the fact that the insurance company has paid for two ER visits, multiple visits to an orthopedist, twelve sessions of physical therapy, and reimbursed me for hundreds of dollars worth for mileage. I have scanned the Amended Answer I had received from the Amelia Belle Casino’s (identified as Belle of Orleans, LLC) attorney, Mark W. Verret. You can view the document here as a PDF. Below is the actual surveillance footage of the incident the casino seems to want to initially refer to only as “alleged.”

I would like to warn people that when you go to the Amelia Belle Casino you are potentially putting the safety and well-being of yourself and others at stake. Based upon my personal experience the administration of the Amelia Belle Casino could care less about the safety and well being of its employees or customers. The only thing that seems to matter to the Amelia Belle Casino is money. As long as you give them money they’re happy.

If you are an employee then do not fear posting on the forums. Your information will NEVER be given out unless a court order mandates that I give out the information. If such an incident does occur you will be immediately notified of the matter. I would not be surprised if the Amelia Belle Casino implemented some sort of rule or policy that prohibits its employees from speaking negatively of the casino or other properties owned by Evangeline Downs. Per the National Labor Relations Act you have the legal right (as well as other rights) to discuss better working conditions this includes expressing your opinions about matters of the company, so long as you are not giving away any trade secrets or private information (i.e. information that would otherwise be protected by law).

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.  Your information will not be traded, sold, or given away. The only way anyone will ever get your information is if a court of law orders me to hand it over. If this happens, then before the information is handed over, I will contact all persons whose information is involved.
